A Classic and original Sci Fi come horror comedy romp, rarely seen these days. Malcolm Mcdowell portrays H G Wells, having built the actual time machine from his acclaimed novel, it is then stolen by Jack the Ripper (played with suitable menace by David Warner) in his attempt to flee the Police. Wells immediately takes off in pursuit. The humour comes out of the fact that Mcdowell is verty much a fish out of water in a future he doesn't understand and the menace comes from the opposite being true of Warner. Jack the Ripper fits into the modern day just a little too well. Click on the link above the picture to take you to the movie.
Richard Burton plays a telekenetic, embittered and withdrawn from humanity, determined to make the world suffer by unleashing the full force of his power by causing a series of spectacular disasters. Co starring Lee Remick, Damian's Mother in 'The Omen. Another rarely seen and unappreciated classic. Click on the link above the picture to see the full movie.
One of the later Hammer films from 1971. Jack the Ripper's daughter, traumatised by her Father's crimes is treated by a well meaning psychiatrist only for the family blood lust to begin to manifest itself and soon it isn't long before Daddy's little girl is slicing and dicing just like her old man. Daddy would be proud. Click the link above the picture to watch the full, terrifying film.
Hammer favourite. The third and best of Hammer's Karnstein trilogy and in truth a prequel to the first two movies 'The Vampire Lovers' and 'Lust for a Vampire.' Recently orphaned twins Freda and Maria arrive in the village of Karnstein to stay with their tyrannical Puritan Uncle only for Freda to fall under the spell of the wicked Count Karnstein, prompting a bloody final showdown between vampires and vampire hunters. Good production values and nifty pacing as well as a rousing theme tune make this not only one of the best of the later Hammer movies but also one of the best vampire films ever made. Hammer's unusual entry into its Dracula cycle is actually a fantastical retelling of the story of Countess Elizabeth Bathory, a real life Hungarian Countess and the most prolific serial Killer in history. Hammer siren Ingrid Pitt bathes in the blood of virgins in order to hold back the passage of time. Click on the link above the picture to go to the movie.
Cult Euro-horror favourite with Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing joining forces against a creature from outer space which can possess human beings and create an army of living dead. Telly Savalas joins the fight in this enjoyable and unusual horror romp. Zombies and space monsters, what's not to like. Click on the link above to go to the movie.
A rare and hard to find Italian cult classic starring Walter Brandi in the third and final film of a vampire trilogy. The first two in the series are even harder to track down, 'The Vampire and the Ballerina' and 'The Playgirls and the Vampire.' This one follows fairly traditional vampire conventions as set down by Hammer Films and is a thoroughly enjoyable old-fashioned gothic vampire tale. Click on the link above to watch the movie.
Classic and influential silent version of Bram Stoker's Dracula from 1922. No collection of horror movies would be complete without this one. Still sends chills down the spine even today with its atmospheric visuals and nightmarish quality.
Another rare and hard to find classic horror movie starring Kieron Moore and horror icon Hazel Court. Somewhere between a mad scientist, Frankenstein style story and a zombie film. The monster is quite impressively ghoulish. Not to be confused with Mario Bava's 'Baron Blood.' Click on the link above the picture to watch teh full movie
George A Romero's original gut munching zombie classic. The black and white photography really adds to the other worldly atmosphere. It appears as if you're watching an unsettling nightmare unfolding before your very eyes. Click on the link above the picture to be unsettled and disturbed in style.
An entertaining sequel to Wes Craven's original comic-book adaptation. In my humble opinion possibly superior to the original. Louis Jourdan is back as the villain despite being severely splattered in the first film. No mention is made of their earlier encounter or how he survived. Heather Locklear provides the glamour this time around. Click on the link above the picture to enjoy.
William Castle's camp haunted house movie is a scream, literally with Vincent Price on amusing form as the owner of the house offering a cash reward to anyone who can survive a night inside its creepy walls. Click on the link above the picture to join the guest list.
Of all the various versions of Richard Matheson's classic doom-laden novel 'I Am Legend' this first version is probably the most faithful to the source material. Vincent Price is surprisingly restrained in his performance as the lonely hero. A movie that deserves as much interest as 'The Omega Man,' the version of the story starring Charlton Heston and the more recent Will Smith vehicle. Judge for yourself by clicking the link above the picture and watch the full movie.
David Hemmings stars in this influential and stylish Dario Argento slasher effort. A musician witnesses a murder and then becomes the prey of the killer. Great music and beautifully composed scenes that stretch the nerves. I love Italian horror and this is one of Argento's most atmospheric. Click the link above teh picture to see the full film.
The last of the classic horror anthology movies starring Vincent Price in his only ever appearance as a vampire. Great fun with an all star cast and musical interludes provided by popular pop acts of the 80's B.A. Robertson and UB40. A horror oddity with a well balanced mix of frights and comedy. One of the most original werewolf movies ever made with the most flesh ripping transformation sequences ever put on screen. A dark fairy tale based upon the novel by Angela Carter and loosely connected to the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Haunting and eerie, it's a wonderful hybrid of arthouse and gorefest. If you haven't seen it, you're in for a treat. Click on the link above the picture to check it out.
