Trawling the web in an effort to find inexpensive, that is to say cheap…okay FREE methods of advertising my own literary and artistic efforts, I have discovered an entire pool of frustrated writers and artists out there just trying to get their foot in the door of their desired profession and encountering as many obstructions as they would if they were sending off their manuscripts to an established publishing house. The problem is basically, competition and the truth of the matter is that some people are either more savvy at promoting themselves or just plain luckier than most. That is why every available opportunity to get noticed should not be overlooked and one more website geared toward promoting the talents of unknowns should not be sniffed at.
In my research I have discovered artists eager to break into the comic-book market without any idea of how to go about it and surprisingly new writers in the horror and fantasy genre like myself finding it difficult to find an audience as most literary websites appear to be mostly devoted to the serious novel.
‘Dark Matter: Showcase’ is much more of a project than a self-indulgence. Its purpose, to promote the talents and fulfil the desires of the under-appreciated artist, the under-valued writer. This project is designed to showcase the writers of specifically, genre material. So, if you like writing short stories or if you have a full novel to promote or if you have been working on a graphic novel for years and want to see it displayed in all of its glory, then post it here. It won’t cost you anything and what have you got to lose?
The requirements for submission are virtually unlimited. The project will publish short stories, serialisations, comic strips, examples of artwork, reviews of games, movies, television, interviews. Genres are diverse, ranging from horror, fantasy/sword and sorcery, science fiction, superhero, thriller, espionage and adventure stories. And you will be free to post promotions for any other work you have available The criteria for submissions will not be pedantic or elitist. There won’t be any insistence that each submission should meet some mythical level of excellence. All levels of ability will be welcomed and promoted and you will retain full copyright over your work to do with as you please. So get submitting. Dig out any old pieces of artwork or writing you’ve forgotten about and send it here and perhaps together we can make 2014 our year to shine.
All submission should be sent to: [email protected]
Short stories, serialisations may be of any length up to 10’000 words preferably but can be flexible within that model. Preferred format (doc).

As for content, I am fairly broadminded. Please feel free to checkout the sample chapters of some of my available novels on the website.

Although it appears as if the magazine is entirely geared toward horror, as I have previously stated the content will be very broad and only as limited as the imaginations of the contributors. That is to say without limitation.
Above are three suggested examples of possible layout for comic submissions. These are only suggestions, you understand, the actual layout will be entirely open to your own sense of creativity. You can make it as simple or as complex as you like or simple comic strip panels as found in newspapers. The submissions can also be in black and white or full colour. I will not place limitations upon your creative output.
